5 y/o Corgi with trembling episodes

I have a 5 year old welsh corgi. ?He seems healthy but lately has had a few episodes where his entire body seems to be trembling. ?This lasts for 10 to 15 minutes and then he seems fine. ?Do you have any idea what the cause of this could be?

Maybe i should mention that the trembling seems like involuntary muscle spasms .

Thank you.
Kate

This trembling could be seizures, one needs to take to the vet to rule this option out and if they happen more then 1x a day within a 24 hour period this could be dangerous.

There can be many possibilities - it could be neurological (partial seizures), musculoskeletal (Myasthenia gravis), abdominal pain (pancreatitis/hepatitis/bladder), orthopedic pain/back pain or neck pain, electrolyte imbalances, hormone imbalances (hypothyroidism), etc. He should be examined by your veterinarian for a full physical and neurological exam, and then they will make recommendations for tests. good luck!

Kate,my young Corgi trembles when she is confronted with what she perceives as danger. Our neighbor's Pembroke does this also. In these cases, these bossy little guys will start to shake. It isn't seizure activity in our cases, just frantically trying to maintain control in the face of fear.

We owned the most wonderful G. Shepherd who did actually have epilepsy. She was on high dose medication, but seizures would break through on occassion. When you see a canine seize it is very hard to mistake. The dog will act oddly for some hours before, then will usually vocalize with strange howls right before becoming completely still with the seizures. There is a distinct behaviour for some time after the incident as well.

You should go to your vet in case your kid has epilepsy. Any dog diagnosed with epilepsy needs to be on preventative medication. I hope though that your dog is just nervous and you will get a clean bill of health!
