16 y/o Beagle with Addison's and Arthritis

Our 16 year old Beagle has Addison's and Arthritis. The vet has him getting Percorten injection nearly monthly and Prednisone orally every other day. The Arthritis is pretty bad and he has a very hard time getting comfortable. The vet has now prescribed Previcox for the days he isn't taking a prednisone. Is this safe for him?

Thank You

Cat being treated with tapazole

My cat has been on low dose tapazole (.1 per day) transdermal. It did not help her thyroid much. So they increased the dose to .15 per day. After rechecking, her thyroid was wonderful!!!!! BUT her ALT level shot up to 489!!!!!!!!!!!! It had been high since on the low dose tapazole (190), but not as high as it is now. They want me to increase her tapazole, but if her thyroid level is fine, should I really increase the meds? Could her ALT level be high due to reaction to tapazole?

Thank You

10 y/o fat Llasa Apso

I have a 10 year old fat Llasa Apso who has just had surgery for bladder stones, (oxalate urolithiasis) and my vets wants him to go on a complete diet Hills r/d to loose the weight and then another diet to maintain the effect, and also to keep the bladder stones at bay.

What I would like to know is if I feed him a natural diet of fresh veg, fruit and meats etc will he be more prone to bladder stones? I have been feeding him this way now for 3 weeks, and he is much more alive and interested in his surroundings! He has also stopped itching and smelling! He has also lost weight, and is a much better shape, without a distended tummy. I do hope you can give me a little reassurance as I don't have anyone else to ask about this sort of subject. I forgot to say that he is a rescue and that I have had him for 7 years and all that time he has eaten a complete food as directer by my vets. It is obviously not doing him any good .

I look forward to hearing from you

6 y/o basset with mast cell tumor:

My 6-year old basset hound had a Mast Cell tumor (grade 3) tumor on her hind leg. Due to its location, it could not be completely removed. The vet has determined from lymph node biopsy that it has at least regionally spread. Further lymph node tests and a marrow biopsy are scheduled. If they should show no sign of the cancer, one option is amputation. My concern is that I will only buy her a few more months due to the aggressive nature of the tumor. Is it possible/probably for a dog to survive grade 3 mast cell beyond a year or so?

Thank you in advance for any help you can offer.
