Sheltie suffering with paw allergies

My 9 year old mixed breed dog has a hot spot on his rear paw. My 1 1/2 yr old sheltie has been suffering with paw allergies since May. He has been taking prednisone and benedryl on alternating days for a long time. Now the vet thinks it may be food allergies.He started eating special food-venison and potato last week, with no treats. He is now taking vetalog, rather than predisone. I want to see him off all meds and get some relief from the allergies. Any recommendations?

11 y/o Samoyed with prostate cancer

I have an eleven year old Samoyed that has been diagnosed with prostate cancer. The only medicine given to him from the vet was peroxicam 10mg. I spoke with this vet yesterday by phone and his diagnoses is edenocarcinoma and prostate disease. Is there anything else I can do for my dog???? I don't want to lose him!!!

Eskimo Spitz has heartworms

My 4 y.o. Eskimo Spitz has heartworms. She has had the 1st of 3 injections and is scheduled for the next one in 2 days. I have heard that treatment with walnut hull and woodworm can effectively kill heartworms without having to keep my dog calm and with much less risk. Is this true? Also would you advise that I try this natural treatment even though she has started the chemical treatment from her vet 1 month ago?
