Chronic Pseudomonas infections

Hello, I am interested in possibly adopting a 3YOF, spayed Spinone who is in need of a special home. She has had chronic Pseudomonas infections throughout her short life in BOTH ears and has required her owners to clean, irrigate, use steroids and antibiotics. She has be seen by a Bd.Cert. Vet Dermatologist. According to the owners, their Doggie Derm feels that there are 2 options left: putting down the dog or having surgery to remove both ear canals. Apparently, these ear infections clear up and then come back on a regular basis.
a.. Should I pursue this gal or leave her alone?
b.. Is there hope for her other than this operation?
c.. What is the success rate and Post-op recovery like for the owner and the dog?
d.. Will the dog be deaf?
e.. What is the recommended protocol for clearing up chronic Pseudo infections and how do you treat them?

Doggy Breath Help

My 3-year old neutered Papillon has a bad case of halitosis. He's on raw feeding with frozen beef/venison mixed with a little squash and Omega-3...and a raw chicken wing alternating daily. His teeth get brushed 2-3 times a week. His treats are beef jerky, Greenies, or 3 very small pieces of grain-free kibble. Teeth are clean and white - thanks to the brushing and chicken bones. No vaccines since the puppy shots.

Any ideas??

German Shephard with Tongue Lesion

I have a 3 yr old German Shepherd with a vascular lesion under her tongue. I need a good vet in my area as the one I go to doesn't seem to care to touch it. He wants us to go to Ohio State and we can't afford it.

Could you please tell us what we should do?

Terrier with eating problems

We have a soft-coated wheaten terrier. About every three to four months she stops eating. Our veterinarian has done an endoscopy, blood tests, and no real diagnosis. Endoscopy showed indentations in the stomach lining (I guess like little ulcers) and x-rays indicated a cloudy look for her stomach. Only two anitibiotics, carafate, and pepcid AC seem to get her over each episode.

I am wondering if Acidopholis would be of any help? She weighs about 25-28 lbs. If it would, what dosage?

Would human probiotics be good for her, if so, what amounts?

Thank You for any help you can give.

Help for my Doberman with Wobbler's Disease

My 8 yr old male Doberman was recently diagnosed with Wobbler's Disease. He has a herniated disk between the 5th and 6th vertebrae which is putting pressure on his spinal cord. The Neurologist (Vet) at the Animal Hospital recommends surgery, however I feel that surgery is too invasive and the recovery would be too painful. Is there an alternate treatment?

Is he treatable? He appears to be getting worse everyday and I am afraid that time is running out.

Please advise as soon as possible.

Thank you.

Is there a homeopathic that could be substituted? I don't like using steroids.

Need help for cat with CRF

I have a 13 year old cat that was recently diagnosed with mild renal insufficiency. She was put on Hill K/D dry food. I originally had her on Eaglepack Holistic food. The only wet food she will eat is the Fancy feast canned food. And I was told that is not good for her since she has CRF. I eralize that the sodium and phosphorous content in the Hills food is low becasue of the CRF, but the phosphorous content in the Eaglepack food is only 0.9 % compared with Hills which is 0.3% Is that a big significance? Plus she throws up in a while on the Hills food, but NEVER on the Eagle Pack food!!

Any comments??

Thanks, Steve

Help! My dog is losing coordination in his hind quarters

My 10 1/2 yr Chesapeake Bay began losing coordination in his hind quarters several months ago. After numerous Dr visits and a round of Rimadyl he is continuing to get worse. His left side worse than right. I've been told dysplasia but he doesn't act or cry out as if in pain & is able to put weight on his hind legs but unable to keep his balance...starting to drag his left side until he's able to get up, then almost crosses his hind legs.

Is there anything I can do?

Thank you!

High blood pressure in dog.

My dog has been diagnosed with high blood pressure and I'm positive that this is the result of her being strressed at the vets office. They insist that they take that into consideration but still want to treat her with norvasc and benazapril. I am uncomfortable with that method of treatment. I don't believe her blood pressure is as high as they say it is. Does anyone know a more natural treatment or any suggestions? I need someone to come to my home to take her blood pressure. That is the only way I would believe it was accurate and considered to be high.

My dog never had kidney problems until she started with the norvasc. They said norvasc would not harm the kidneys. I don't believe that either. They say her high blood pressure is cause from the kidneys leaking protein into the urine. My dog weighs 20 lbs.

I do not want to put my dog under medications to have his teeth cleaned, but I know he needs to have something done to prevent infection. What can I do?
